IF HE'S DANGEROUS!

WHEN A CHARACTER DEMANDS HIS OWN STORY

Everyone admires a man with power. Such men are the heroes of fiction, movies, fantasies and, sometimes, real life. Shapeshifters, Vampires, and Demigods to Navy Seals, firefighters, and cops. They loom large in all forms of media from games to books.

Sir Argus Wherlocke, the hero of IF HE’S DANGEROUS, is a man of power. He is handsome(of course), in that sensuous, gotta-have-him way of most heroes, strong, intelligent, and gifted with the power to mesmerize. He has another trick or two up his elegant lace trimmed sleeves, but being able to get people to tell him all their secrets, to believe what he wants them to, and even – on occasion – do things they might not want to is a pretty powerful gift. It certainly helps Sir Argus in his work as a spy and an interrogator for his government. It also inspires the sort of envy that gets him into big trouble.

Sir Argus has skipped through some of the other tales of the Wherlockes I’ve written so I knew he was demanding his own story. When a character keeps appearing even when a writer hadn’t intended him to, that’s usually what that means. I tried to ignore him. His gift isn’t exactly an easy one for others to deal with. Sure there’s that attraction of the Alpha male, but one who can make you tell him everything and do whatever he wants? One who could take away all your will? Not one a woman would run to. More like run away from – very swiftly.

Then one day I was reading a a book and got stuck on the word resistance. Took me a minute to figure out why I kept looking at that word. I mean, really, it isn’t interesting at all. Not even slightly quirky or amusing. But I couldn’t stop myself from going back to that one word when I tried to continue reading. Then it hit me – that’s what was needed to get Sir Argus I-can-bend-you-to-my-will Wherlocke his own story. He needed a woman who could not be overpowered by his hypnotic voice and night sky eyes, at least not in the way others were. So was born Lady Lorelei Sundun – seventh child of the Duke of Sundunmoor, intelligent, independent, and just a tad eccentric.

Now I just had to figure out how to get these two people together.

Since Argus had been such a pest, whispering in my head, butting in where he wasn’t supposed to, I put him in prison. Had bad guys pound on him a little too. There was the first hole I wrote myself into. I’m good at that. So – Argus in a prison, bruised and battered. Nice for my revenge on him but a little tricky to get the heroine in that picture somewhere. It took a while but I did come up with a solution and thus begins the story of Sir Argus and Lady Lorelei Sundun. Argus wanted his lady – and I gave him one. I hope you’ll check out IF HE’S DANGEROUS just to see how hard a powerful man can fall.

The first chapter is available to be read on my website: www.hannahhowell.com
I also have a teaser in my notes section on Facebook.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for giving me a whole new world. I was a book snob would only read, self help, bio's. nonfiction stuff. Then I was in an accident and was unable to work, I was sitting at a doctor's office and was waiting and waiting so I picked up a book that was in the room and rolled my eyes at the cover and thought why would someone want to read one of these smut books. Well I opened it to see what the fuss was about and I taken on a journey with remarkable writing and with strong sexy men the kind that lived in my dreams were on the pages of this book. Well lets just say that I wrote down the name of the book and on my way home. I stopped at Books A Million and hunted for this book. I read all night and into the next day I was back at BAM for more. Thank you so much for making my reading list longer and sexier. The name of my first eye opening experience was The Eternal Highlander.

Hello I just wanted to say how wonderful I think all your books are. My husband goes away a lot with the military (in fact next feb. he will be going on deployment number 3 to afghanastan and we have 3 boys) so after my children go to bed I usually set down and read your books. I usually end up staying up all night to see how the story ends. I cant wait to read this next book. Thank you for helping me cope with my husbands deployment.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. Having read most all of both of your books, it's exciting to have two of my favorite authors in one place.

I had no time for myself when my kids were little. It was so nice as they got older. I nolonger felt the desperate need to close my eyes and rest when I found a few minutes of free time to myself. While shopping, the cover of Hannah's Highland Knight caught my eye. I bought it, read it and have been addicted ever since. Thank you for the wonderful and exciting escape I get when reading each and everyone one of your books. My heart has always gone out to Argus in lonely need of isolation. I am really looking forward to reading his story and him finding his HEA.

Hi all! Winners of the signed copies of IF HE'S DANGEROUS are Jamiekonschnik and Chris S. Contact me through here or on a message through my FB page(just note that you won on JF's blog. I wrote the names on slips of paper and tossed them to the floor where my cat Perkins could attack them. She picked the names and with a minimal amount of cat spit. Even better - she got to continue playing with all the other bits o paper left on the floor after I wrestled away the first 2 she grabbed. Take care, Hannah
